Venom is a Marvel Comics character, a supervillain and sometimes anti-hero, who first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #300 in 1988. The character was created by writer David Michelinie and artist Todd McFarlane.

Venom is a sentient alien symbiote that first bonded with Spider-Man before eventually finding a permanent host in Eddie Brock, a disgraced journalist who had a personal vendetta against the web-slinger. As Venom, Brock gains superhuman strength and durability, as well as the ability to shape-shift and produce organic webbing.

Over time, Venom has become a popular character in the Marvel Comics universe and has been featured in numerous storylines and spin-off series. He has also been adapted into other media, including film, television, and video games. In some depictions, Venom has evolved into a more complex character, sometimes serving as an anti-hero and occasionally even teaming up with Spider-Man to fight against more dangerous villains.
