Troy Aikman is a former American football quarterback who played for the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League (NFL) for 12 seasons. Aikman is widely regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
Aikman was born in West Covina, California in 1966 and went on to play college football at the University of Oklahoma and later at UCLA. In 1989, he was selected first overall by the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL Draft, where he would spend the entirety of his career.
During his time with the Cowboys, Aikman led the team to three Super Bowl victories in four years, in the 1992, 1993, and 1995 seasons. He was also named the Super Bowl MVP in the 1992 season.
Aikman retired from football in 2001, after suffering several concussions throughout his career. After retiring, he worked as a television analyst for Fox Sports, providing color commentary for NFL broadcasts.
Aikman has remained involved in the sport of football, both as a broadcaster and as a co-owner of the San Diego Padres Major League Baseball team. He is also actively involved in several charitable organizations, including the Troy Aikman Foundation, which provides financial support to children in need.
