Polaroid is a brand of instant film and cameras that was first introduced in 1948. The company became famous for its ability to produce self-developing film, allowing users to instantly see their photographs without having to wait for them to be developed in a lab.
Polaroid cameras and film were popular throughout the latter half of the 20th century, and were used by both amateur and professional photographers. However, with the rise of digital photography in the 21st century, the popularity of instant film declined, and Polaroid went bankrupt in 2001.
In recent years, however, there has been a resurgence of interest in instant film, and a new company called the Impossible Project acquired the rights to produce Polaroid film in 2008. The company has since rebranded itself as Polaroid Originals, and continues to produce instant film and cameras that are compatible with classic Polaroid models.
