The Phoenix Suns are a professional basketball team based in Phoenix, Arizona. Established in 1968 as an expansion team, the Suns are a member of the Pacific Division in the Western Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team plays its home games at the Footprint Center, located in downtown Phoenix.
The Suns have had periods of success throughout their history. In the early 1970s, they quickly emerged as a competitive team, reaching the NBA Finals in 1976 but ultimately losing to the Boston Celtics. The team experienced a resurgence in the mid-2000s, led by stars such as Steve Nash, Amar'e Stoudemire, and Shawn Marion, reaching the Western Conference Finals in 2005 and 2006.
In recent years, the Suns have once again become a formidable force in the NBA. Led by star guard Devin Booker and point guard Chris Paul, the team reached the NBA Finals in the 2020-2021 season but fell short to the Milwaukee Bucks in a closely contested series.
The Suns have a passionate fan base, and their games are known for the "Purple Palace" atmosphere created by their supporters. The team's mascot, "Go," entertains fans during games and events.
